Welcome to Target, eh!
The Target store in Erie is unique in a couple of ways. First of all, we're the only Target within an hour. No Target on every other block here so when we're out of something...it's gone. We can't send someone to a store on the other side of town that happens to have the item they came to us for. Then, there's the Canadians. Canadians? you ask... Yes, Canadians. Buses and buses full of shoppers from Canada. See living in Northwest PA, Canada isn't all that far away. I never really thought about it being a foreign country growing up because it's right there. No need to board a plane, just drive north through NY and over the border. And now when people ask what countries I've visited I usually rattle off the exotic ones first, Kenya, Haiti...oh, and Canada. So anyway, the Canadians come here to shop in droves because we don't have sales tax on clothing or food. One of my favorite things about Pennsylvania...if a sweater is $19.99, it really is only $19.99. Thus the Canadians bypass New York, stay on the bus a little longer, and come here for their major shopping needs. Especially this time of year, when Christmas is coming up, the Canadians come...buses and buses of them. Pretty crazy, eh?!
